The bookstore specializes in travel writing. Witty and liberal, he has not been going well with his divorced life and sharing his house with a bizarre Welsh artist named Spike. One day, suddenly, Thacker meets the world-famous Hollywood actress Anna Scott during her trip to London. She enters her shop to purchase a book and this may be considered as the starting of the film- Notting Hill.
Regardless of whether you are a stern romantic or not the director Roger Michell's very cleverly endearing comedy, Notting Hill is you deep down to a true believer and a hopeless romantic. In return of a sweet love story, you are willing to look at other way when things seem a bit unbelievable. But it does not hurt the emotional appeal of Notting Hill. Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant plays the central role of the star and the bookkeeper respectively. The character of Anna Scott, and William Thacker are genteel and unassuming antithesis. Her social life is real and as well as imagined. This life is displyed on tabloids. While he is fond comfort, if not love. Quite satisfactorily running a cute little book shop in a silent charming section of London.
We imagine that if Anna's brightness had never set foot in William's shop then eloquently self-blurring William might have lived the rest of his life as a perfect reserved gentleman. Very polite and philosophical about how love had avoided him. But then, this is no love affair to relate and hence no movie. Thi smay reminds you of the famous statement of Bernard Shaw “No conflict no drama”. For William, it is love at first sight.. As he is completely infatuated with his famous customer. But for her this is no simple such a thing. But for her it is too huge a problem to allow herself to such instant and pedestrian emotions. With a keen sixth sense, Anna weighs how everything will be affected in her career because of this decision. But when they meet a second time, the magic of fate clouds the movie star's judgement; and she impulsively steals a kiss. The natural tendency is to hope that William is lucky in love but we are annoyed when his courtliness in this reverses Cinderella saga called Notting Hill makes him shrinking violet to Anna's sexy character.
