Hum Tum

Hum Tum is a romantic Hindi film released in the year 2004. The film used animation in it to make it very lively and modern. The film depicted the age with aplomb and at the same time highlighted the changes that can occur in relationships in the course of life. Hum Tum was made under the Yashraj banner that is famous for making romantic movies. Hum Tum was directed by Kunal Kohli and he along with Siddharth Anand wrote the film. The lead characters of Hum Tum are Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee. Their performance in the film was award winning and the supporting cast played by Kiron Kher and Rishi Kapoor is worth a mention.
The publicity of the film was done by the cartoon characters that depicted many phases of tussle between a girl and a boy. Hum Tum was entertaining and was suitable for all age group. The characters evolved along with the storyline of the movie. The story line expands to several years, during which the characters go through many levels of life.

Hum Tum starts with Rhea played by Rani Mukherjee and Karan played by Saif Ali Khan meeting and instantly disliking one another. Karan is a born flirt and tries to flirt with Rhea who is a simple girl with strong Indian beliefs. Karan's bohemian style and Rhea's Indian values are a strong contrast. In the first phase, the constant clashes between them are shown. The animated characters are named Hum and Tum. They too portray the feelings of the lead characters. After their eventful parting in the first phase of the movie, Rhea and Karan meet again only to immediately part ways and at the same time Rhea causes the break up of Karan and his then girlfriend. The film continues with the characters leading their own lives and again they met when Rhea is getting married to Abhishek Bachchan and it was Saif's mother who was arranging the entire event.

In this event too they part ways and finally, they meet again to find that Rhea is a widow staying at Paris. With the passage of time, the characters are shown to be mature and circumstances lead to spending of time with one another and finally knowing each other better. They understand each other and Karan too has matured and writes a book that is based on his and Rhea's life. Reading the book Rhea comes back to Karan and they finally get married. The film ends in the characters staying happy like many of the romantic Bollywood films. Romance is one of the most necessary elements in the films of Bollywood. There are songs in Hum Tum are very entertaining too. The music director of Hum Tum was the famous duo Jatin and Lalit. The playback was done by Alka Yagnik, Sonu Nigam and Shaan. The promotional song “U n I” was sung by Rishi Rich, Juggy D and Veronica.

Hum Tum won many awards. It won a National Award for Saif Ali Khan in the category of best actor. The film also won awards in the category of best actress, director, female playback singer, comedian in the Filmfare Awards. The song “Ladki Kyun” became one of the most popular songs of the film as it showed the tussle between a girl and a boy. “Chak De” by Sonu Nigam too was very popular.
