American Pie- the film was released in the year 1999. It was a typical teen comedy from the house of the Weitz brothers. It was a directorial venture undertaken by Paul Weitz and Chris Weitz. The film was scripted by Adam Herz. It was another addition to the list of the frothy teeny- bopper romances which have been brought to us by the dream- merchants of Hollywood. The previous romances being “Grease 1 and 2” “Girls Just Want To Have” to name a few.

The film- American Pie revolves around four strapping boys who enter into a pact. This being the losing of their virginity by the time they are doing their high school graduation. The title of the film can be traced back to a scene in which the lead character is caught in the middle of a sexual-act with an apple pie of all things. The hilarity of th incident lends the film its unusual title. This refers to a piece of information he had received that the “third base” feels like warm apple pie.
American Pie was warmly received at the box office. The success of the film lead the directors to bring out two more two sequels to this film. This being “Apple Pie 2” in the year 2001 and “American Wedding” in the year 2003.
The romantic flavor of the film American Pie duly lies in all that happens in this immensely interesting film. No wonder the film went on to enjoy rave reviews. Jim, Oz, Finch and Kevin are now left with the tough task of achieving their targets by the night of the prom.
While Jim serenades all over the place to attract his share of attention, Oz tries to persuade his girlfriend to submit to him in this act. Finch and Kevin try all sorts of ways to make the mission possible. These four students of a high school at Michigan arrive at the prom with drooping spirits at the successfulness of their mission. Everyone seem to have given up hope when the unexpected happens.
After the prom all four boys mange to fulfill the pledge. The sexually obsessed Jim is caught at all awkward moments by his father. He in invariably spotted by his father indulging some kind of sexual behavior causing himself immense embarrassment. After a rather, humiliating experience with an attractive exchange student from a foreign country, he invites a band geek Michelle to the prom. He does not lose hope till the last moment. He eventually ends up having sex with her and finally marries her in the sequel “American Wedding”
Kevin is the leader of the group and one of the mischievous members of the pact decided on. He is a sincere and caring boyfriend to Vicky. He has gone only as far as the third base with her. He harbors the noble desire of having sex with within an honest and respectable relationship. However, he cannot get himself to even confess his love for her.
Oz the jock is not as good at women as he thinks himself to be. The pact leads him to befriend Heather. The sensitive and caring side of his nature make him enter into a serious relationship with her. This leads to the consummation of the relation following the prom night.
Finch is intelligent and sophisticated. He takes revenge on Stifler by having sex with his mother on a number of occasions.
American Pie -the film is considered to be one of the greatest comedies of our times. American Pie- the sex comedy ranks high on the list of favorable Romantic Movie Reviews.
